Message from The Congress President

It is my great honor and pleasure to invite all of you to the 47th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Medical Education. This is hosted by Niigata University on July 24 and 25, 2015, at TokiMesse Convention Center in Niigata City.

The history of Niigata University School of Medicine started 1910, when the National Niigata Medical Collage was established. In 2010, we celebrated the 100th anniversary. We have more than 20,000 graduates.

The mission of our medical school is “To contribute to the welfare of human kind through the knowledge and skills of medicine.” Since the beginning, we are always responsible for training good physicians and excellent researchers. We were the first who was given the accreditation of medical education by Japan Accreditation Council for Medical Education (JACME) as trial in Japan. JACME was founded since 2012 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and we joined JACME from the beginning.

The theme of the conference is “Continuity and Change of Medical Education for Health Care Professionals in Japan”. We are going to discuss state-of-the-art issues of medical education in the meeting and hope to inspire a fruitful discussion.

Niigata City is the largest among the cities on the Sea of Japan in Honshu Island which is the largest among four islands. We hope all of you enjoy staying at Niigata, Japan. We look forward to see you this summer!
